Marketplace

An online platform where multiple independent sellers list products for a shared audience, such as Etsy, eBay, Amazon, or Kogan Marketplace.

A marketplace is a platform that brings together many independent sellers under one shopping experience, giving buyers a wide range of products in one place and giving sellers access to existing buyer traffic they didn't have to generate themselves.

This differs from a standalone storefront like a Shopify store, where the seller owns the entire shopping experience but is responsible for driving their own traffic.

For makers, a marketplace can provide discovery beyond an existing audience, but it also sets its own fees, search rules, listing fields, and seller policies. DistroBay handles the repeated listing work across the places you choose to sell.
